He is in his eighth season as Music Director for both the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra and the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, and is in his 14th season as Principal Conductor for Education and Outreach for the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the first position of its kind in the United States. He is also the Resident Conductor of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, a post he has held since 2009.

She is a graduate of The Juilliard School where she was a student of Peter Serkin. She was a winner of the Astral Artist National Auditions, and has received the National Museum of Women in the Arts Award and the Classical Recording Foundation Award. The Pennsylvania Philharmonic is home to more than 70 of the most talented, passionate and dedicated musicians in country. Their first performance, starting at 2 pm on Sunday October 26, 2014, celebrates the “Fascinatin’ Rhythms” of great compositions by composers old and new:
• Higdon: Fanfare Ritmico
o Written on the eve of the new Millennium, composer Jennifer Higdon was reflecting on how all things have quickened as time has progressed. Our lives now move at speeds much greater than what anyone would have ever imagined in years past. Everyone follows the beat of their own drummer, and those drummers are beating faster and faster on many different levels.
• Ginastera: Four Dances from “Estancia”
o Among the leading lights of 20th-century concert music in South America, Argentina’s Alberto Ginastera is acknowledged for his successful blending of indigenous music with the more rigorous elements of European art music.
• Ravel: Piano Concerto in G
o Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major was composed between 1929 and 1931. The concerto is in three movements and is heavily influenced by jazz, which Ravel had encountered on a concert tour of the United States in 1928.
• Copland: Four Dances from “Rodeo”
o Rodeo is a ballet scored by Aaron Copland and choreographed by Agnes de Mille, which premiered in 1942. Subtitled "The Courting at Burnt Ranch", the performance consists of four of the five dances: "Buckaroo Holiday", "Corral Nocturne", "Saturday Night Waltz", and "Hoe-Down".
• Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue
o Composed in 1924, Rhapsody in Blue established Gershwin's reputation as a serious composer and has since become one of the most popular of all American concert works.

Tickets can be purchased at The Pullo Center Box Office. All seating for this event is general admission.
Jerry Greenfield and his long-time friend and business partner Ben Cohen are the men behind one of the most talked-about, and least conventional success stories in American business. Co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s Homemade, Inc., Greenfield has helped to build a store front venture into an ice cream and business marvel by making social responsibility and creative management strengths, rather than weaknesses..
With his best seller, Ben & Jerry’s Double-Dip: How to Run a Values Led Business and Make Money Too (co-authored with Cohen), Greenfield created both a nuts-and-bolts guidebook to the promise and pitfalls of “values-led” business, and an inspiring wake-up call about the growing international influence of the “socially conscious” or “mission driven” corporation.
Bringing all of this to life at the lecture podium, Greenfield’s presentation delivers a rousing tribute to America’s entrepreneurial spirit, full of anecdotes and radical business philosophy. It also addresses the great sense of fun that is the company’s hallmark, illustrated with the serving of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream for the entire audience.
An Unpredictable Evening with Todd Rundgren
Sun. Nov 9, 2014 at 7:30 pm
A Wizard, A True Star. The title of Todd Rundgren's 1973 solo album aptly sums up the contributions of this multi-faceted artist to state-of-the-art music. As a songwriter, video pioneer, producer, recording artist, computer software developer, conceptualist, and, most recently, interactive artist (re-designated TR-i), Rundgren has made a lasting impact on both the form and content of popular music.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Rundgren began playing guitar as a teenager, going on to found and front The Nazz, the quintessential `60's cult group. In 1969, he left the band to pursue a solo career, recording his debut offering, the legendary Runt. But it was 1972's seminal Something/Anything?, on which he played all the instruments, sang all the vocal parts, and acted as his own producer, that catapulted Todd into the superstar limelight, prompting the press to unanimously dub him 'Rock's New Wunderkind'. It was followed by such landmark LPs as The Hermit of Mink Hollow and the above mentioned A Wizard, A True Star, as well as such hit singles as I Saw The Light, Hello It's Me, Can We Still Be Friends, and Bang The Drum.
In 1974, Todd formed Utopia, an entirely new approach to the concept of interactive musicianship, and embarked on an extensive round of touring and recording. Standout Utopia offerings included Oops! Wrong Planet, Adventures in Utopia, and Oblivion. Along the way, Utopia combined technical virtuosity and creative passion to create music that, for millions, defined the term "progressive rock."
Rundgren's myriad production projects include albums by Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, Psychedelic Furs, Meatloaf, XTC, Grand Funk Railroad, and Hall And Oates. Rounding out his reputation as rock's Renaissance Man, Rundgren composed all the music and lyrics for Joe Papp's 1989 Off- Broadway production of Joe Orton's Up Against It (the screenplay commisioned by The Beatles for what was meant to have been their third motion picture). He also has composed the music for a number of television series, including Pee Wee’s Playhouse and Crime Story.
An Evening with Asia
Featuring John Wetton, Carl Palmer, Geoff Downes, Sam Coulson
Presented by Point Entertainment
Wed. Sep 17, 2014 at 7:30 pm
Iconic British rock band ASIA is about to embark on its 2014 Gravitas World Tour, incorporating visits to Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. The band is taking to the road in support of its acclaimed new CD, Gravitas, introducing its newest member, guitarist Sam Coulson.
Asia’s debut album exploded onto the music scene in April, 1982, with several Top 10 singles like "Heat of the Moment" and "Only Time Will Tell". It became the best-selling album in the World in 1982. Featuring Geoff Downes on keyboards, Sam Coulson on guitar, Carl Palmer on drums and John Wetton on lead vocal and bass, Asia was the logical successor to their collective bands of the 70s – Yes, ELP, King Crimson, UK and The Buggles.
Asia became one of the most played acts during the first year of MTV. Throughout most of ’82, Asia ruled the radio airwaves and MTV, selling out every date on tour as the debut album crushed all the competition in record stores around the World.
For ASIA’s long-devoted fans, the band’s return to the concert stage cannot come soon enough. As Carl Palmer says: “performing on stage is where this band truly comes into its element. Seeing the fans reacting to our music is what makes it all worthwhile. It is the fuel that drives this train we call ASIA.”

Black Violin is the blend of classical, hip-hop, rock, R&B, and bluegrass music. Live, they are accompanied by their crack band, featuring ace turntable whiz DJTK (Dwayne Dayal) and a drummer. Named one of the hottest bands at SXSW in 2013, Black Violin was invited to perform at Bonnaroo and returned to SXSW this year to SRO crowds.
“Black Violin works hard, but makes it all look like play… Sometimes they play with the intense seriousness of orchestral soloists; at others they fiddle as if at a hoedown; at still others they strum the violin and viola like guitars.” New York Times
Since starting Black Violin a decade ago Wil Baptiste and Kevin “Kev Marcus” Sylvester have performed an average of 200 shows a year in 49 states and 36 countries as far away as Dubai, Prague and South Africa, while appearing at official NFL celebrations for three Super Bowls and last year’s U.S. Open in Forest Hills with Jordin Sparks. Their groundbreaking collaboration has seen them play their music for everybody from the troops in Iraq to both the official President’s Inaugural Ball and the Kids Inaugural in Washington, DC, where Barack Obama himself gave each a hearty hand-shake. Individually and together, Black Violin has collaborated with the likes of P. Diddy, Kanye West, 50 Cent, Tom Petty, Aerosmith, Aretha Franklin and The Eagles.

Dave Davies of The Kinks
Tue. Nov 18, 2014 at 7:30 pm
Dave Davies founded the Kinks in the early 1960s and forever changed music after he sliced up the speaker cone of a little green amp and created a revolutionary, distorted guitar tone and frenetic solo on song “You Really Got Me”. Musicologist Joe Harrington described the Kinks' influence: "You Really Got Me”, ‘All Day and All of the Night' . . . were predecessors of the whole three-chord genre ... the Kinks did a lot to help turn rock 'n' roll into rock." In 1998, writer Bill Crowley wrote, "As lead guitarist and founder of The Kinks, Dave Davies is one of the most unpredictable and original forces in rock, without whom guitar-rock styles including heavy metal and punk would have been inconceivable. A member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Dave's massive guitar sounds have inspired bands from Van Halen to Green Day."
Since the early days, Dave has worked on a slew of critically acclaimed records, ranging from solo hit song “Death of a Clown”, to experimental Kinks records like “Village Green Preservation Society” and “Arthur” and classic song “Lola” in the 70s. In the 80s Dave released experimentally prescient solo work like the eponymous album titled Dave Davies or AFL1-3603 named after himself and/or the barcode symbol face cover art. His mainstream success continued in the 80s on hit Kinks albums Low Budget and State of Confusion. In the 90s he released more solo work such as Bug and the compilation Unfinished Business. His songs have been featured in films by John Carpenter and on T.V. shows like the Sopranos which used his tune “Living on a Thin Line”. His tell-all autobiographical book Kink was well received in the late 90s as well. In recent years, Dave has collaborated creatively with his sons. In 2010 he worked with son Russell Davies to create the hauntingly, beautiful rock electronica album, the Aschere Project. Mystical Journey, directed by son Martin Davies, narrates Dave's longtime interest in the paranormal, Eastern philosophies and spirituality (the film inspired Julien Temple's BBC documentary Kinkdom Kome). No matter how diverse the ambition, Dave Davies puts his heart and soul in all of his projects.
